Our Story

It all started with a boxing match.

In February 2020, Lydia’s sister Nicole invited her to a dinner and fight night at Maryland Live! When she arrived, Nicole greeted her at the hostess stand and whispered, “You’re sitting next to a cute guy. Put some lipstick on.” That guy turned out to be Patrick. They spent the evening talking through dinner and enjoying the match, and something just clicked.

Not long after, they had their first official date at the Annapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade, followed by sushi. A few more dates and a global pandemic later, they were still talking every day. Once Lydia moved to DC, things picked up right where they left off.

Since then, they’ve shared so many adventures. They’ve road-tripped to Charlottesville for wine tasting and to NYC for New Year’s Eve, and they’ve even gone camping together in Bald Mountain.

One especially meaningful trip was to Nosara, Costa Rica, for Patrick’s brother’s wedding in November 2021. After days of ziplining, snorkeling, and riding ATVs to hidden waterfalls, they stopped at a restaurant for the view and found a scrappy street dog who ran straight into their arms. That dog, Tico, came home with them and has been family ever since.

Another unforgettable trip came in February 2025. Patrick suggested a quick escape to San Diego. What Lydia didn’t know was that he had arranged two of her best friend’s to join them from NYC and LA. He rented a beachside Airbnb for everyone, and on their first day there, took Lydia to Wipeout Beach under the pretense of seal watching. There, with the ocean behind them, he got down on one knee. The moment was captured forever from the photographer and videographer that he arranged, and their friends came running down from their hidden perch to celebrate.

Soon after, they started dreaming about where they wanted to get married. Lake Como had always been on Lydia’s bucket list, and they had fallen in love with it during a visit after a family wedding in Italy. Their stay in Bellagio was filled with unforgettable views, Riva boat rides, amazing food, and little conversations about “one day.” After the proposal, it was clear. That day had come.
